Celebrating Art & Music Night: A Collaborative Effort
In April of 2015, Cole Middle School Art and Music educators collaborated to produce an event to celebrate Visual and Performing Arts at Cole Middle School. The entire school was turned into an art gallery with over 400 pieces of artwork representing students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The artwork was matted and hung on displays and wall space. Art students also created larger-than-life tape murals that were the center of attention. Adults and children at the event were able to vote in five categories, including Best Technical Skill, Most Creative, Best Use of Space, and Best for 7th and 8th grade. Student-led demonstration tables and children's coloring tables kept families busy with hands-on art-making experiences. All the while, Music students from orchestra, band, and chorus performed in small ensembles throughout different areas of the school. The evening brought forward the presence of Art and Music at our school, celebrating achievements students have made in the creative disciplines at Cole.
